World of experience
The danish toy-museum is a wonderful experience for people of all ages -
marvel at what we played with in the past.
There are a lot of toys which awaken old stories and memories like the old „Tekno“ cars or the „Falck“ collection which is from the year 1940.
We also have a small collection of LEGO-parts, boxes and figures. The name „LEGO“ is a combination of the danish words „leg godt“ which means: „play good“. In 1949 the first LEGO-bricks were introduced, beforehand there were only toys made out of wood.
The LEGO group was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen. The company has since only been family-owned. Today Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, the founders grandson, is the owner of the LEGO group.
The LEGO-brick is their most important product. That is why they are proud of to have been voted the „toy of the century“ twice. Their products have evolved over this period of time but the foundation is still the traditional LEGO-brick.
For girls :
Ruth Handler discovered the puppet Lilli on her journey through Europe and took it with her as a gift for her daughter. When Ruth saw that her daughter played more with Lilli than with any of the other toys, she had an idea. She wanted to create a puppet of which you could change the clothing, as a recreation of real life humans. Ruth renamed the puppet „Barbie“ -the nickname of her daughter Barbara. In the museum there are beautiful and old-furnished dollhouses of different ages.

For everyone: We have many different board games, also named parlor games. As an example ludo games would have been sent out to the military hospitals so that the soldiers could spend their time playing these games. You are welcome to try these games or even our tricky mental exercise games.
Our exhibition differs, depending on the seasons. In the winter you can see different Santa Claus's and how their looks changed through the years.
Experience our toyshop from around 1970. Here you can find everything that was trendy at the time.
