The Museum's history
The adventure-indoor swimming pool „Slotssøbadet” , got in the beginning of 2015,
a gift of life from „ Bent Eliasen “, a citizen of Kolding, who gathered and displayed over 140.000 toys in his lifetime.
Illness and empty registers forced him to give up, so he had to search for and alternative way how to continue with his toy-museum.
Slotssøbadet was asked if a takeover and a continuation of the museum would be possible. After a relatively short period of time with negotiations and the search for a suitable location it was ready at last in autumn 2015.
A store with many capabilities was found in the centre of Christiansfeld - Lindegade 40.
Christiansfeld lies inbetween Haderslev and Kolding, has an architectural identical cityscape and is the touristic center of the region. Because of the extraordinary well preserved settlement of the Brødremenigheden ( Herrnhuter ) , the location has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site as of the 4th of July 2015.
On the 6th of December 2015 the new toy-museum opened with loads of new visitors.
The board of directors consists in 2016 by: HC Jensen - Annemarie Michelsen - John Christensen - Otto Skak - Edvard Køhrsen, chairman
The museum is run by Tanja Claus with the help of volunteers.
